I never dreamt I’d be a writer.
I don’t mean that I’d didn’t think I could become a “published” writer or people would pay me for my writing. It just never occurred to me that I would ever spend so much time writing, much less making a living from it.
I occasionally had to do some writing at work. But I was a bookkeeper, not even a secretary or in marketing.
I wrote in my personal journal, when I felt like it. But you would be more likely to find me reading, than writing. It wasn’t something I thought about, much less dreamt about.
The Dream I Didn’t Have – Came True
But here I am, a full time freelance writer.
People say, “You’re living your dream!” And I am. But my dream wasn’t to be a writer.
My dream was simply to be able to work from home, to have a flexible schedule and make a decent living.
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE writing. I just didn’t know how much I would love it, until I started doing it.
Could Freelance Writing Be the Dream You Never Dreamed Of?
Maybe you’re like me. Maybe you’ve never dreamt of being a professional writer. Or maybe you have thought about it, but pushed it back into the back of your mind and forgot about it.
Writing is – communicating. I write emails. I write holiday letters. I wrote building specs and business letters during my former career. Writing comes pretty easy to me. I guess that isn’t true of everyone.
That doesn’t mean that writing for pay didn’t require a learning curve for me. It did. I needed a lot of polishing on my grammar and punctuation, when I first started. (Can still use some.)
I had a whole lot to learn about writing online content like blogs, landing pages and website content. So I learned it – bit-by-bit as I went along.
Have you dreamt my dream? The one about working from home and having a flexible schedule?
I’m not talking about “getting rich online.”
I’m not rich. Don’t ever expect to be.
But I am making as much as was when I drove to work five days a week and worked from 8 to 5.
You Could Do It Too!
Since I started writing full time in 2011, I’ve helped several others become full time or part time writers. How did I do that? Mainly I just told them what I did.
Where I found work. What worked and what didn’t.
If you’re interested in checking out this possibility of making money from you words, I’d be willing to do the same for you.
