Many people are under the impression that you need to be famous in order to be an inspiration to others. I would challenge that concept.
There are many people in my life who have been an inspiration to me. Most of them would not be known outside the small towns they live in. Some are not even known for leadership in any way. Yet they are an inspiration to others.
I was inspired by Nancy Southward, the woman who trained me in on my new job at a lumberyard some 30 years ago. She knew how to teach and encourage new employees in such a way that built their confidence. I had several other managers and business owners model those same traits before me. When it came time for me to be in that position myself, I followed the lead of those who had served as an example in my life.
Inspiration is available all around us at every level of life, and we can be inspiration to others in both big and small ways. No matter whether you are retired, disabled, a cashier, a business owner or a major sports figure, you have the opportunity to inspire those around you to move forward and be the best that they can be.
Inspiration goes on all the time. It’s what keeps us moving forward.
